CYP: Leading with kindness

At the Lower School this week, we have been focusing on the Pegasus Value ‘We are Proud’.  We talked about different ways we can show pride in our achievements and also the achievements of others.  The children have been working hard to demonstrate this value this week.

At the Upper School we have been thinking about the power of being kind and focusing on the Pegasus Value ‘We Care’.  We have been identifying all the different ways we can show kindness to ourselves and others.

Green Class Assembly

We began the morning on Thursday, with a wonderful assembly from Green Class who shared their recent learning with us.  The children performed with confidence, prosody and expression.  To see more about this assembly, click here

Science Workshops in Years 1 and 2

This week Year 1 and Year 2 have taken part in Science Workshops run by one of our parents.  Dr Lisa Moylan, who is a STEM outreach officer at Kingston University, put together some amazing workshops for our children.  We were also able to offer an additional workshop to our most able scientists in these year groups to help further extend their learning.  Thank you Dr Moylan and your team for providing such an enriching experience for our children.

Cypress Upper Football Team

Well done to all who have competed in the football team this term! We finish the term with a brilliant 4-1 win for Cypress with 2 goals from Tylan, one for Ruby and one for Pietro – with a big shout for Jack who had a brilliant game in goal. Great news to end the week!
Well-Being Ambassadors at the Upper School
The Cypress Upper Well-Being Ambassadors have been in place for nearly two years now. They offer support to their classes during circle time, themed weeks such as Children’s Mental Health Week and are on hand to support their friends when they need a listening ear. They received games training on Monday with Ms Braithwaite. They will now take their new skills into the playground and run activities during playtime with the teaching assistants. As they become established delivering these games to their peers we will add more games to their repertoire.

Cypress Superstars

Congratulations to Phoebe in Ruby Class.  Phoebe is part of the Pauline Quirke Theatre Academy and got to perform in a play at His Majesty’s Theatre.  Well done to Jocelyn in Ruby Class. Jocelyn used her swimming skills to raise money for Comic Relief.  She worked with her swimming group to swim as far as possible and managed to raise a lot of money for a worthy cause.  This week, we have also been visited by lots of children with their amazing work.  Well done to Mason in Red Class who came to show his super mark making.  Congratulations to Joshua in Yellow Class who came to show some wonderful drawing and labelling of sea animals.  Well done to Oliver in Orange Class who came to show some lovely writing.  He had used his sound buttons so well to help with his spelling.  Congratulations to Oran in Red Class who has produced some excellent independent sentence writing.  Keep up the great work!  Well done to Leon in Ruby Class. Leon had celebrated Peruvian New Year this week and came in with a very interesting presentation to share with his class.  Zhimran and Tyler in Birch Class have produced some excellent and informative work showing facts from the Stone Age.  Jay-Jay in Sycamore Class came to share some great works showing facts about Judaism he had learnt during his R.E. lesson.  Marcel in Birch Class has used his writing skills to produce a detailed description of a woolly mammoth. Bea in Rowan Class also came to share her experience of acting and singing stage as part of a theatre show.  What a busy week of achievements we have had here at Cypress!

Beech Class show they care

Cypress Lower PTFA Egg Hunt

Thank you to our amazing PTFA volunteers Laura, Chanelle and Katya who turned the Forest School area into an Easter Wonderland this afternoon.  The children had a wonderful time hunting for eggs and seeing the Easter bunny hopping around.  All the children left with a sticker and lollipop as a reward for their hard work.

Fundraising at the Upper School

Last Friday, the children at Cypress raised a large amount of money for Red Nose Day through their fundraising events.  At the Upper School, they raised £300 through the sale of Red Noses, £189.69 from Mufti Day and £158.95 from the cake sale.  This gives a grand total of £648.64 so far.  The Lower School are still busy counting their donations and will add the amount they have raised to the total next week.

We wish all our families a wonderful weekend!
