Last Monday and Tuesday, parents and carers with children in Year 1 and Reception were invited into school to watch how we teach their children phonics.
This half term our focus author is Mick Inkpen. He began his career as a graphic designer and worked on a cartoon strip for the Sunday Express newspaper.
On Tuesday, we had another very successful parent coffee morning. This time we invited Barbara Allen from our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to come in and explain to our parents/carers what support they offer.
Michael Rosen is our favourite author for this half term. He is a well-known children’s novelist and poet and has written over one hundred and forty books!
Across the school we have been celebrating Black History Month by recognising and celebrating the lives and achievements of people of African, Caribbean and Asian heritage.
Every half term, we celebrate special achievements in writing across the school from our early mark making in the nursery to our accomplished writing in year 2.
