What a fun-packed week we have had in Little Cypress! We have been very keen to make cards by cutting and sticking and writing messages to our friends. Our writing is fantastic and getting better and better each week.
Cress Mountains
Last Friday, we sprinkled lots of mustard and cress seeds and cat grass seeds on a huge mound of compost and gave it a really good watering. We talked about how seeds grow and what our cress mountain might look like by Monday. We couldn’t believe it on Monday morning when we already had a sprouting mini forest. By Friday the forest was almost a jungle as the mustard and cress grew higher and higher and the cat grass had shot up, even higher than everything else!
We were real detectives, using our magnifying glasses to check on the ever-growing mountain! We also watched a time lapse of cress growing and were amazed at seeing it grow in speeded up time.
The Rainbow and Nursery children have been taking really good care of our cress mountain, taking turns to water it with the spray bottles and making sure that the sun could get to it, in order for it to keep on growing.
On Monday we will be making cress sandwiches to sample our delicious home-grown produce.
We also each planted a broad bean in soil and watered them. We have been reading lots of versions of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and are closely observing our plants to see when they begin to grow! I wonder if any might grow as tall as the beanstalk in the story?
Policeman Visit
P.C.Nawol came to visit us on Monday and told us all about his job. One of the children in Nursery asked him such a clever question! She asked: “Did you arrest the King’s brother?” He didn’t but we were wowed with her linking her knowledge of the Royal Family to asking our visitor this!
Comic Relief
Friday brought all the fun of Comic Relief. We came to school dressed in red items to raise money for this fantastic cause. Thank you for your kind donations.
Eid Mubarak
Eid Mubarak to all our Cypress families and staff who are celebrating today. We hope you have all had a wonderful celebration.
