Happy world book week!
We have had a super fun week celebrating reading. On Monday, the author James Sellick came to visit us. He read us 2 stories, Storm Goliath and saving Piku. Both of these books explored emotions and we learnt some new words, Sanger (sad and angry) and hanger (hungry and angry). We also learnt about empathy and Nursery have been using their empathy superpower all week to think of how others are feeling. On Thursday, we dressed up as our favourite book characters. It was SO fun to see everyone in their FANTASTIC costumes. We joined the rest of the school in their costume parade and got some inspiration for next year!
We have continued reading jaspers beanstalk this week. We have focused on what plants need to grow (soil, water, sunlight). At forest school, we followed step by step instructions to plant our own beanstalk. We will be watching them closely looking for any changes and then we get to take them home (maybe even to eat!)
We have been learning all about number 2 In maths. We searched the classroom, looking for amounts of 2 and we practiced writing the number 2. We also revisited our 2 birds in the tree song from the start of the year.
Our sound of the week was “u”. This included the words umbrellas, upset and under.
