Moon Day – Year 1

Here We Are!

This autumn term came to an exciting close as our Year 1 class wrapped up their space topic with a blast off adventure. Inspired by our literacy text Man on the Moon by Simon Bartram and Whatever Next! By Jill Murphy, the children set off on their very own journey to the Moon.

Just like Baby Bear in Whatever Next!, the children put on their special space hats, grabbed their Moon bags, and zoomed into space. They even met a friendly alien, sparking lots of curious questions as they tried to find out: Are you smarter than an astronaut?

Of course, we packed a picnic just in case we got hungry on our adventure! Back on Earth, the children explored our sensory station and shared their excitement with comments such as:

                                          “This is a 10 out of 10”

                                          “This feels like heaven”

                                          “Great adventure”

                                          “I love Moon Day”

                                          “Fabulous day!”

It truly was a wonderful way to end the term, full of imagination, discovery and out of this world fun!
