WHINF All about Autumn

It was lovely to see all the children back and ready to learn after their half term break. Over the last two weeks we have been learning all about autumn and discussing how the weather changes, the leaves change colour and fall to the floor and other seasonal changes that we have noticed. We have explored lots of autumnal focused activities such as leaf wreaths, conker rolling and transient art using autumn objects. The children have also started their phonics journey. We have been learning the initial sound ‘S’ and have been practicing saying it and finding objects in nursery that start with the sound.

We have been learning about circles during our maths sessions and have had been talking about its features and enjoyed spotting other objects in nursery that are circular in shape.

Some of the children were also lucky enough to meet Miss Dixon who introduced us to yoga, they enjoyed learning and practicing all the different positions.

Next week we continue our topic all about colour, starting with the book ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?’ by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle.
