Last week, Ecclesbourne’s budding athletes put their best feet forward for another great showing at Croydon Athletics. It was incredibly hot but the children didn’t let that stop them from giving their all and it was brilliant to see such determination and teamwork.
There were highs and lows on finals day as the boys’ relay team dropped the baton and finished their semi-final heat in third place despite some excellent sprints – there was a nail-biting wait as only first and second places qualified automatically for finals… When all the heats were finished, it was confirmed that they did qualify based on their race time; they upped their game in the final to come away with the bronze medal!
A huge congratulations to all our athletes, you are all winners for putting yourself out there and giving it your all! Thank you to Mer Strutt, as ever, for organising our participation in a great event and providing these experiences for our young athletes. We are already looking forward to the next one!
