What an exciting Baking Week we had in Year 2!
The Year two children have been very busy baking healthy muffins. They embarked on an exciting learning journey: in science, they explored the concept of a healthy, balanced diet and why it’s important. Building on this, we discussed fruits that could be added to muffin mixtures to make them healthier. Bananas and blueberries were a clear favourite among the children, and we began planning our muffins.
During Design and Technology (DT), the class listed their ingredients, carefully considered food allergens to keep everyone safe, and set to work on packaging. After researching what makes a muffin box both sturdy and eye-catching, the children loved designing and building their own custom containers.
Finally, it was time to bake! Working collaboratively in small groups, the children followed the recipe step-by-step and took turns mixing. By Tuesday afternoon, the irresistible scent of freshly baked banana muffins filled the entire school—and they tasted just as amazing as they smelled!
