Ecclesbourne Shows Racism the Red Card

Today, Ecclesbourne was a sea of red as we swapped our usual blue uniform to dress in red in support of Show Racism the Red Card on ‘Wear Red Day’.

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was founded in 1996, thanks in part to a donation from then-Newcastle United goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop after he experienced racist abuse from a group of young people who, when they realised who he was, went on to ask for his autograph. Realising that he could harness his experience and status a professional footballer to make a difference, Shaka had the idea that education could be an effective strategy to challenge racism in society.

At Ecclesbourne, we are proud to support this charity and spread the message that racism is unacceptable.
