On Thursday, the children in Key stage One and Two gathered for their Sports day. In glorious summer sunshine, the children paraded their colours around the field in front of a crowd of expectant parents. The morning saw children taking part in a carousel of activities including animal races, space hoppers, penalty shooting, dressing up and all manner of other sports. In the afternoon, the children gathered on the filed for a succession of races. Children ran sprints, relays and long-distance races while others competed in field events. There was even time for fiercely contested mums’ and dads’ races. At the end of it all, it was announced that ‘Earth’ had won in the morning and ‘Air’ had won in the afternoon but more important than winning had been the fantastic show of sporting behaviour on the day. Everyone had taken part and all the children had been so supportive of each other. It was a great day. Thank you to all of the parents who came along to support the children and to all the staff (with a special mention to Mrs Bayliss) for putting the day together.
