This week EPS netball teams have had their first netball matches of the season against Norbury Manor and Winterbourne
Against Norbury Manor, EPS first team, captained by Amiah, played very well -once they settled down and took at 2:0 lead. Norbury fought back to equalise 2:2. A brilliant shot from the edge of the circle put them ahead 3:2 but then, in the final minute, EPS equalised to make the final score 3:3. It was a very exciting game, Amiah was chosen by Norbury as the fairest and best player. The B team played extremely well with strong attack, good use of the wings and brilliant shooting from Sebastian. This resulted in a very convincing 6:0 victory. Joshua was awarded player of the match.
The second match was against Winterbourne and once again all teams gave 100%. There was excellent defensive play from Bernadette and Kaia who made it very difficult for our opponents to even get the ball into the circle to shoot. At half time it was 2:1 to Ecclesbourne and the great shooting from Tianna ad Milah in the second half secured a 5:2 victory. Milah was awarded sportsman of the match.
Our second game was a great show of connecting passes and self-belief; the teams were very well matched and it was extremely close throughout, but great team spirit gave Ecclesbourne the edge and a 3:2 win.
The third match was so exciting, Seb and Joshua leading the team well with encouraging shout outs throughout the game inspiring their team to keep the pressure on and get a well-deserved 2:2 draw. Suhayla was awarded sportsperson of the match and this was well deserved with her brilliant midfield play and excellent passing.
This was a great start to the season and Mrs Roberts and Mr Strutt are very proud of their teams.
