This week, Year 3 have had the exciting opportunity to visit the V&A Museum in South Kensington as part of our Thematic learning on the Great Exhibition!
We wrapped up warm to travel on the train and tube, enjoying the view of London’s beautiful skyline. When we arrived, we spent time looking around the British galleries, discovering art and sculpture during 1500-1900. We focused on the British gallery portraying the Great Exhibition, where we saw Joseph Paxton’s original sketches, a 3D model of the Crystal Palace and some beautiful decorative pieces that were on display inside the Palace.
The children enjoyed the interactive room where they reconstructed the Crystal Palace with building blocks, listened to some Victorian music and sketched their own peepshow. We then had the chance to try on a Victorian suit and corset dress! We hope you enjoy the pictures below.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the day!
Thank you to the parent volunteers who supported us on the trip.
