In Year 2 we are underway with our new Thematic topic – Oh I do Like to be Beside the Seaside. We looked at seascape paintings by Turner and Monet, critiquing how each artist used a variety of brush strokes and shades of dark and light to evoke different moods in their painting. Inspired by their work, we experimented with dark and light colours and different brush strokes to create a stormy mood and a peaceful mood. Choosing our preferred mood, we then painted our own seascape background and used mixed media collage material to add detail to our work.
