This half term in Science Year 2 have been learning about the conditions a plant needs in order to grow healthily. We put our learning to the test by setting up an experiment. We planted radish seeds and kept them carefully under a variety of conditions. One week later we looked at the results. The seeds which had water, sunlight and suitable temperature had grown into a healthy green plant. The seeds which had no water did not grow at all. The seeds we kept in the fridge didn’t grow either. The seeds which had no light grew into tall, thin, yellow plants. This really does prove that plants need all suitable conditions in order to grow healthily! Richel wondered whether we could rescue the one in the dark by leaving it out in the light. To our surprise, the next day the yellow leaves had turned green!
