What a fantastic start to the term!
Our Reception children have had a brilliant couple of weeks settling into school life, making new friends and getting to grips with our daily rules and routines. Over the past couple of weeks the learning adventure has really kicked into high gear with the start of phonics, where the children took their first steps into reading and writing by learning their very first sounds: s, a, t, p, i n, m, d, g, o, c and k.
We’ve also been diving into the nursery rhyme ‘Humpty Dumpty’, working hard on our performance skills to act it out together. Reception got super creative and invented their own hilarious alternative versions of the classic rhyme too!
Last week we were focusing on talking about our emotions through our Reading spine text “I am a Feelosaur” and the well loved favourite “The Colour Monster.”
This week we have been talking about our families through our core text “So Much” by Trish Cooke and looking at each other’s family photos. We have loved getting to know who is in everyone’s families and the photos have been a wonderful stimulus for lots of art work.
We are so proud of how quickly the children are adapting and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
