PAT Summer Poetry Competition

With sunshine on the way, we want to know what makes summer cool for you!

Whether it’s enjoying an ice-cold drink in the garden, jumping into the pool on holiday, listening out for the ice cream van or slurping on an ice-lolly, how would you describe the coolest summer?

After the success of the PAT Spring Poetry Competition last year, it is our privilege and pleasure to invite students from Year 1 – Year 6 to participate in the Pegasus Academy inter-school literary competition! The theme this year is Summer. This friendly competition provides the perfect platform for students to express their creativity and continue to develop their communication skills.

To enter to the competition, you must create your own poem around the theme Summer. The deadline for you to hand your poem in to your class teacher is Friday 6th June. If you are chosen, this poem will then be performed at Whitehorse Manor School on Wednesday 18th June. You will be competing with children in the same year group across the trust.

Performed poems will be judged on:

  1. Delivering the poem with beautiful articulation;
  2. Prosody (Intonation, Pitch and Pace);
  3. Including elements of humour;
  4. Ambitious word choices; and
  5. Gestures and appropriate expression.

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

You will be notified on Wednesday 11th June if you have been chosen to represent your school and year group for the competition!

Good luck!
