This half term, Year 6 have been learning about suffragettes and their fight to gain the right to vote for women through the fantastic book ‘Suffragettes – The Battle for Equality’ by David Roberts. The children have been enthralled by the lengths that the women would go to in order to have their voices heard whilst being equally appalled by the awful treatment that the suffragists received from a society that wanted to retain the power for men.
Today, the children acted out a rally with rosettes in the colours of the suffragettes, posters with relevant slogans that they created and a lot of cheering and shouting. We hope you enjoy watching the speeches as much as the children enjoyed writing and performing them.
