Year 3 children across the Academy have recently studied a poem by a famous author named Robert Louis Stevenson. We read his poem ‘From a Railway Carriage’ in a number of different ways in class including echo reading (where one person reads a line and then another person echoes the same line) and choral reading (where the the whole class read it together with their teacher). We tried to imagine what it might have been like for a Victorian man or woman seeing a steam train passing by or even being one of the lucky ones to step on board. We then performed these to the rest of the class. Choo choo!
