In literacy these last two week we used Jack and the Beanstalk as part of our learning. The children listened to the story and retold it using puppets, picture cards and role play. In creative activities, the we made pictures of the beanstalks using different types of craft. We also talked about being brave, making good choices and respecting other people’s belongings.
In Maths this we learned how to compare different types of measure. We explored length by finding objects that were longer, shorter, tallest and smallest. We used cubes and rulers to measure and compare items around the classroom. We investigated weight by using balance scales to decide which objects were heavier or lighter. During water and sand play, we explored capacity by filling containers and describing them as full, empty, half-full and nearly full. We made predictions and checked our ideas. These practical activities helped us understand measurement and use mathematical language confidently when comparing length, weight and capacity in everyday situations.
Yesterday we had a Zoom with Joe WIcks! He had the children exercising and talked about staying fit and healthy!
