What a fantastic term we have had so far in Gold class! We have been reading and learning all about the story ‘Owl Babies’, exploring how the baby owls waited for their mummy and were very brave. We were so impressed when the children remember the names of the little owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill. Can your child remember what Bill said?
We have been learning to listen and identify sounds in our environment and the story ‘Peace at last‘ has been an excellent opportunity for the children to tune into sounds. Over the last two weeks we have been playing lots of listening games and even we went around the school using our listening skills to find things in the school, like the photocopier. Children enjoyed making their super listening ears to help them finding noisy things.
In Maths we have been learning about quantities up to 4. Practicing our counting skills with our number songs. Can your child remember how many birds are in the tree song? Next week we will be learning to count up to 5 objects. I wonder what our number 5 song will be…
It is lovely to see how the children are developing a sense of belonging to the Gold class. They know how to sit at group times and help to tidy up, it makes us very proud of them. Among all the above we are still working on our gross and fine motor skills doing fun activities like using grabbers, painting the walls outside with coloured water, brushing the fences, cooperating to set up obstacle courses or ramps, etc!
