We’ve had so much fun in Nursery this week. A big shout out to our amazing caretakers John and Alex who made us a new gravel pit! It has been a crowd favourite this week.
On Wednesday, we went back to forest school. The children were searching for signs of spring. We walked around the school grounds and finished our walk in the forest school garden. We found; daffodils, blossom, trees full of leaves, a nest and birds chirping in the tree. We then played and explored at forest school before finishing the session with reading the spring story ‘That’s my flower’ by Alice Hemming.
In maths, we have been learning all about prepositions. We have used the vocabulary; in, next to, on, under, behind and between to describe the location of different items. During provision, we built an obstacle course and the children were describing what they were doing as they went round. “In the tyres”, “under the bridge”, “over the crates”.
At the start of the week, we finished our book ‘We all go travelling by’. The children continued to explore different vehicles and transports in their provision. At the end of the week, we read the story ‘Dig dig digging’ by Margaret Mayo. This book explores vehicles used for different jobs and led to discussions about what we want to be when we grow up. It was lovely to hear all the children’s dreams and ambitions. We have some aspiring mechanics, doctors, hair dressers, teachers and race car drivers!
