ATW Nursery News – 22nd May

This week in Nursery, we have been celebrating science week! Our focus was changes over time and we did the following experiments:

  • Whisked egg whites – we had a discussion on how the friction turned the whites from a liquid to a solid. Miss Goodey even braved putting the bowl over her head!
  • Eggs in vinegar – the children made predictions and then we had a discussion on the changes the vinegar made to the shell. It went from hard to soft and bouncy!
  • Coke and mentos – discussing the huge reaction that happened when the mints hit liquid
  • Changes to food over time – observing what happens to food as it’s exposed to sun light and air. We have already noticed lots of changes to the apples and raspberries!

This term, the children have really enjoyed creating and exploring the junk model resources. We have had a focus on vehicles and some of their creations have been fantastic! They have worked well together to make bigger projects (like a ride along train!!) and also worked independently to make their own models. They have shown real perseverance with sticking and fixing parts to their models – junk modelling isn’t always easy!

Have a lovely half term week everyone.
