We are so excited for CYP Fest! Please join us tomorrow for a fun-filled afternoon. HUGE thanks to our wonderful PTFA for their tireless work and dedication to support fundraising which will benefit all Cypress children.
At the Lower School this week, we have marked Rail Safety Week with an assembly about how to spot potential dangers when travelling on the trains. As proud Londoners, we use public transport for all of our school trips at Cypress Primary and children were able to reflect and identify lots of ways to keep themselves safe. Mrs Ebrahim led an informative assembly about Islamic New Year on Tuesday.
This week at the Upper School, we have focusing on making the most of our learning and building on what we know. We can do this by remembering and reflecting on what we have learnt and using this to connect to new ideas. We can then practice and apply what we have learnt and use this to explore and go deeper. We have been working hard on ‘making links’ in our learning.
Trips galore at Cypress!
This week Reception had a wonderful time travelling by bus to Croydon to visit the Fairfield Halls. As part of the National Year of Reading we were incredibly fortunate to acquire free theatre tickets to see author and poet Joseph Coelho (former Waterstone’s Children’s Laureate from 2022-24) and illustrator Fiona Lumbers sharing their latest Luna adventure, ‘Luna Loves Sport’. We are so proud of Reception for being so sensible on their exciting journey and it was a joy to hear lots of children exclaiming, “That was the best day ever!” and “I love school trips!”. Green Class ventured out to the Horniman Museum for a very exciting African workshop and Violet Class trekked all the way down to Brighton for a sunny day on the beach and the pier. We’re looking forward to the rest of Year 1 and Year 2 heading out on their trips in the coming weeks. Many thanks to all our parent volunteers for their support to ensure we can run so many exciting trips and opportunities for learning outside of the classroom.
At the Upper School, Year 5 have visited the Wonder dome as part of their science learning. Willow and Hazel Class have also visited the London Archives to support their learning in their ‘Crime and Punishment’ topic. Lime Class visited the British Library and took part in a fairy tales workshop as part of their writing unit. Year 3 visited Fairfield Halls to take part in a workshop led by the author of the Doughnut Squad, Neil Cameron. Year 3 also went to Whitehorse Juniors to take part in the cross Trust Spelling Bee.
Many thanks to all our parent volunteers for their support to ensure we can run so many exciting trips and opportunities for learning outside of the classroom.
Cypress Summer Concert
On Tuesday, we held our annual music concert for parents for those children who have been learning the violin and guitar. All the children played with great confidence and demonstrated the fantastic progress they have made in their lessons this year. We were all very impressed with their performances. The performance finished with a beautiful ensemble piece ‘My Grandfather’s Clock’ with all the violin players playing together. Well done to all the children who took part in the concert. Thank you also to our peripatetic teachers Fiona and Barbara for all your hard work.
International day
A reminder that our school’s International Day on Wednesday 24th June 2026. This special day is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful diversity within our school community and to recognise and appreciate the many cultures and backgrounds represented by our families. We kindly ask that children do not wear football shirts on this day, as we would like this to be an opportunity for children to proudly showcase and celebrate their cultural identity. We are very much looking forward to seeing the amazing variety of outfits across the school!
In addition, we will be holding a food tasting event in the Upper Site Hall after school from 3:15pm–4:15pm. We warmly invite families to participate by preparing and bringing a dish to share.
If you would like to bring food to share, please:
- Bring dishes directly to the Upper Site Hall at 2:45pm
- Keep in mind that we will not be able to reheat any food
- Clearly provide a list of allergens and ingredients
- Be prepared to serve your dish yourself so that you can explain the ingredients to families
- Feel free to bring a flag or cultural decorations to accompany your dish and help celebrate and represent your culture
Please remember that we are a nut-free school.
Children attending the food tasting event must be accompanied by an adult.
We look forward to seeing you there.

PTFA update
We all had the best time being rebels today for Break the Rules day. The school was filled with children wearing temporary tattoos, odd socks, their own shoes, painted nails and we spotted many different crazy hairstyles! Thank you for your support. We can’t wait for our summer fair and we’re looking forward to a wonderful day in the sunshine. See you all at the CYP Fest Fair from 1.30pm tomorrow!
