Yesterday, Year 2 became scientists and explorers on their school trip to the beautiful Morden Hall Park. They set off, traversing through Croydon by bus and tram (for some it was their first experience of riding on a tram). Once at Morden Hall, the children undertook some field work comparing invertebrates found under logs and those found under the surface of the water. They used specialist equipment to collect the invertebrates and recorded their findings carefully, before returning what they found back to their habitat. There was also time to explore a little more of Morden Hall Park – the zip wire in the natural play space proved popular with all children (and some of the adults!)
” I learnt the special name for insects – ‘invertebrates’ – and we got to do pond dipping where we saw lots!” Miller B
“I enjoyed the workshop and playing in the park . My favourite bit was the pond dipping.” Polly O
