This week in Nursery, we have been reading the story ‘Owl Babies’. We have been talking about where owls live and exploring the natural materials to make their nests. The children enjoyed hunting for these natural materials (sticks, feathers, mud) to make their own nests. We have also begun talking about some of the changes we notice outside, particularly on the trees. The children enjoyed collected pine cones, conkers and acorns on the daily mile track and making observations about them. The children made some lovely autumn trees to decorate our classroom with.
In maths, we have introduced the number 1. The children have loved signing songs all about the number 1. On Monday we sang the song ‘jelly on a plate’ and the children got stuck in outside making their own wibbly wobbly jelly plates! Outside we have also been practising our fine and gross motor skills.
To celebrate National TA day on Friday, the Nursery children got stuck in making all the lovely Atwood TAs special headbands for them to wear. This went down a treat!
It has been really lovely to observe the children becoming comfortable in the setting and making lots of new friends.
