CYP Lower – Being resourceful to help us learn

We’ve had a fabulous week at CYP Lower, topped off with a fantastic celebration assembly led by Mrs Guerry this morning.  Well done to those children who received Rainbows for great work and learning behaviours this week.  Our Word of the Week champions are Ryan, Kobi and Dora for writing superb sentences using the word ‘precious.  Next week our Word of the Week is ‘quietly’ and we look forward to announcing the winners next Friday.  During KS1 assembly on Monday this week we learnt about the importance of using resources to help us and thought about all the resources we have access to in our classrooms to help us learn every day.  Being resourceful helps us build our learning powers!

Our School Council have been busy making plans to improve playtime games for KS1 children.  They presented some of their ideas to their peers during assembly on Monday and have met again this afternoon with Miss Wenham.  Watch this space as they plan to have a bake sale to raise funds and will soon be asking for donations of pre-loved, good condition fancy dress clothes to add to our playground resources.

In Reception this week children have been reading ‘Bog Baby’ by Jeanne Willis.  They have been busy thinking about what Bog Baby needs and have produced some great writing using their phonic sounds!  Did you know that cake makes him sick?  Children in Year 1 enjoyed a hands-on toy workshop on Tuesday, where they were able to handle toys from the past and find out what children used to play with.  Our Year 2 children have been learning about The Great Fire of London, re-enacting scenes and writing detailed recounts.  A special mention to Jesse for his amazing writing this week!  Year 2 have also been working together creating freeze frames demonstrating how to be kind as part of their learning in RE.

Next Thursday Blue class will be sharing their assembly live with parents over Google Meet.  Please click here for more information.

We hope everyone has been enjoying reading their Big Cat Collins eBooks at home, following the children’s Reading Practice sessions in school.  Over time you will see more and more books in your child’s online library, all of which they’ve been practicing reading at school.  If you cannot login then please speak to your child’s class teacher.

The Pegasus Parent and Carer Questionnaire 2021-22 is now live!  Please click here to complete the survey and share your views.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
