What fun weeks we had so far in Gold class. This term is our “Wheels on the Bus” topic. We have been learning about different vehicles and their purposes for traveling or to work. We also talked about different professions and what they would like to be when they grow up.
We have had such lovely weather which has meant that we have been able to spend lots of time in the garden. Children have been very keen to help water the plants, particularly our flowers and strawberry plants. Children have been very excited to see how the flower seeds are growing and can’t wait to see the new meadow flowers.
In our literacy, we have been focusing on initial sounds in words and rhyming words.
In our Maths, we have been learning about positional language to describe where things are. We were very pleased to see the children being brave enough to do high jumps in order to go over obstacles. Ask your child to sing ‘Where’s the Monkey?’ song. We had lots of fun using positional language with that song. We also have been learning about subitising, counting things on your head. We have been working on recognising up to three quantities. To our surprise, the children have been so enthusiastic they subitised up to 5 quantities!
