ATW Reception news – Jack and the Beansalk

What a magical week we’ve had in Reception as we continued our ‘Once Upon a Time…’ topic, focusing on the much-loved tale of Jack and the Beanstalk!

On Monday, something very exciting happened… a mysterious beanstalk had grown in our creative room over lunchtime! The children were full of wonder and curiosity, asking fantastic questions and sharing their ideas about how it could have appeared.

Throughout the week, the children have immersed themselves in the story through a range of activities. They created their own giant drawings, planted beans to grow at home, and practised writing descriptions inspired by the story.

In phonics, we have been learning to read CVCC and CCVC words, as well as practising our new tricky words: some, come, love, and do.

In maths, we have been revisiting subitising and building our understanding of doubling through practical and engaging activities.

Well done, Reception, for another week full of imagination, curiosity and fantastic learning!
