Since the start of the year, our UKS2 students have been bridging the generation gap every Monday morning. Armed with their favorite titles from the school’s Reading Spine, pupils have been visiting Clarendon Care Home to share stories and conversation with the residents.
This weekly tradition has become a highlight for both the children and the residents, who eagerly await the next chapter of their shared books.
Our Current Reading List Includes:
-
The Boy in the Tower by Polly Ho-Yen
-
A World Full of Journeys and Migration by Martin Howard
-
Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
“I want to read with them forever, to share the love of reading.” — Mark Y6
The Impact
The project is about more than just literacy; it’s about building community. Mia-Mae and Greisha shared that they “love reading with Lesley,” proving that these sessions are building genuine friendships. We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership and fostering a lifelong love of reading across the community.
