Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely break. The children have been telling us all about their activities during the Easter holiday.
We have begun our new topic “The wheels on the bus.” This week we have been reading (and singing!) the story ‘We all go travelling by’ by Sheena Roberts. There is a sing along version on YouTube if you would like to sing it together with your child. The children have learnt all about different types of vehicles and different modes of transport. Each morning, they have shared how they got to school.
In maths, we recapped our learning about 2D shapes and have begun learning about the properties of 3D shapes. We have been using the keywords: faces, corners and edges to describe 3D shapes and sides and points to describe 2D shapes.
Our sound of the week is ‘b’. Our sound bucket has been overflowing with items the children have found that begin with this sound. In our phonics sessions, we have been oral blending words like bus, bird and bag and exploring words that rhyme like wheel and seal, horn and corn, chair and hair.
We have welcomed new faces to our classroom this week, Mrs F will be joining us every afternoon and we have 3 new children making us now full! It’s lovely to have such a busy classroom.
