Last week we finished reading the story book ‘The Gingerbread Man.’ The children have really engrossed themselves in the story and have enjoyed reading the book together and acting out the story. In maths we explored short and long, the children used the large chalk outside to draw long and short lines. During carpet time the children chose a traffic jam to put their car on and we spoke about which was the longest and shortest.
In phonics we explored the sound ‘d.’
Following the children’s interest ,we used the outside large construction to build a car in nursery and pretended we were on a rollercoaster!
This week in nursery we have started reading ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ They children have had fun acting out the story and building houses for the little pigs. We even conducted an experiment to explore how easy or hard it was for the Big Bad Wolf to blow the straw, sticks and bricks.
Our sound of the week was ‘g’ and our maths focus has been problem solving.
Today we were lucky to have a drama workshop with a company called Perform. The children had a great time saving the toy shop and sprinkling magic fairy dust over the toys to make them come to life!
