Did you hear the out-of-this-world news?
Year 1 went to the moon! Yes, you heard it right — to the moon! Baby Bear from the story ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy invited the brave little astronauts of Ecclesbourne Primary to join him on his return moon adventure. The children were totally prepared — with space bags and shiny space helmets that made them look like real space explorers. They climbed aboard their class rocket, ready for lift-off! And blast off they did — zooming past millions of twinkling stars faster than you can say “moonwalk!”
When they landed on the moon, the fun really began. The children eagerly explored the strange and wonderful craters. Some were slimy (yuck!), some dusty, and some sticky (aprons at the ready). Inside, they found moon rocks that shimmered like glitter and moon gems that sparkled bright! But wait, snack time! The children got to make a jam sandwich — Baby Bear’s absolute favourite snack. Who knew moon sandwiches could be so delicious?
Suddenly, a strange noise echoed across the lunar landscape! Out popped a shy, friendly alien named Zog. Zog explained all about life on the moon. Did you know? Moon aliens love to munch on moon snails! Yuck or yum? You decide! After a quick chat and some giggles, it was time to head back home. Zog kindly let the children take two moon treasures each — just like real astronauts! The children couldn’t wait to tell everyone about their incredible adventure. We’re sure they will tell you all about it.
We had an out-of-this-world blast! And us teachers can’t wait to read all the amazing work the children will write about their moon trip.
