This week was Baking Week! The Year two children have been very busy baking healthy banana muffins. They embarked on an exciting learning journey: in science, they explored the concept of a healthy, balanced diet and why it’s important. Building on this, we discussed fruits that could be added to muffin mixtures to make them healthier. Bananas quickly became a favourite among the children, and we began planning our muffins.
In DT, we made a list of ingredients we would need and discussed potential allergens to ensure safety. Once our ingredients were decided, we turned our attention to creating the best packaging for our muffins. We researched what would make our muffin boxes sturdy and attractive. The children enjoyed designing and making their own muffin boxes!
With our packaging ready, we moved on to baking. Working in small groups, we followed our recipe steps and took turns mixing the ingredients. By Tuesday afternoon, the whole school was filled with the delicious smell of freshly baked banana muffins! Delicious!
