BINF – Red class visit Godstone farm!

On a bright and sunny morning, excitement filled the air as Red Class eagerly boarded the coach, ready for a day of discovery and fun at Godstone Farm. From the moment we arrived, the children’s faces lit up with joy at the sight of so many friendly animals waiting to meet them. The farm team welcomed us warmly, and our adventure began.

Our first stop was the bustling animal barn, where we met goats, sheep, and even soft, fluffy alpacas. The children were fascinated as they learned how to gently feed the animals, carefully offering treats and watching their new friends nibble eagerly.

Next, we visited the majestic Highland cows, learning about their Scottish roots. Although shy at first, the cows soon came closer when they spotted the food, delighting the children with their gentle nature.

The baby goats were a particular highlight! We discovered that a male goat is called a billy, a female a nanny, and their babies are called kids. The tiny kids were adorable, bouncing around with playful energy that brought huge smiles to everyone’s faces.

Our excitement continued with the playful piglets, who darted around chasing each other, showing off their lively personalities.

Later, in the small animal handling area, each child had the special chance to gently stroke a baby chick and a calm tortoise. This hands-on experience was a peaceful and memorable moment for all.

After all the animal encounters, we gathered for lunch, where the children eagerly shared stories about their favourite animals and recharged for the afternoon.

Following lunch, the children became mini explorers, hunting for mini-beasts with magnifying glasses. They carefully searched under logs, leaves, and stones, discovering fascinating creatures like worms, woodlice, beetles, and centipedes.

As the day drew to a close, tired but happy, the children climbed back onto the coach, hearts full of wonder and heads buzzing with stories to tell. They were a true credit to Red Class—kind, curious, and impeccably behaved throughout the day.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who helped on the trip and to those who supported the fundraising efforts that made this wonderful day possible.

We are incredibly proud of how the children represented our school and embraced every moment of this unforgettable farm adventure.
