WHINF: THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA

This week Reception have been reading the African themed version of the story “The Princess and the Pea” by the author Rachel Isadora. The children enjoyed recreating a beautiful African landscape scene from the story using black sugar paper on top of an orange sunset to create a shadow effect. During our whole class learning we discussed what pea seeds need to be able to grow, introducing the children to the new term ‘germination’. Afterwards, the children planted and watered their own pea seeds. This week has also been a very exciting week for Reception as our book corners and messy play have returned to our classrooms! The children loved accessing the dressing up clothes in the outside area and danced to music dressed as princesses and princes. Our book corners have also been very popular amongst the children who enjoyed cuddling up with some soft toys and reading stories with their friends.
