Whitehorse JTAs make Road Safety Week an Epic Event!

The Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) at Whitehorse Juniors were at it again!  After their first meeting, they were simply fired up with ideas for our school, wanting our Road Safety Week to feel “Fresh and different!” (Jessica 5LM)

Prior to Road Safety week, our ever enthusiastic JTAs led a whole school assembly to introduce the idea of a Road Safety inspired obstacle course.  They planned a timetable, sorted their equipment and led each class in the Junior School.  What a great display of leadership skills, although one of the JTAs had to admit: “Trying to control a class actually isn’t easy.  They get a bit noisy sometime.  It was hard work, but it was good.” (Joel 6M)

The fun didn’t stop there.  The following week the JTAs encouraged the school to enter a Road Safety/Active Travel Art competition.  Entries could come in any art form and we were overwhelmed at the number of entries: “The best part was judging the cakes!” admitted one very satisfied JTA (Naomi 5LM) “I actually think I’ve had one of the best cookies of my life!” revealed another JTA (Adwoa 4P).

Our JTAs held another assembly to announce and hand-deliver prizes to the winning entries.  We are delighted with their growing leadership skills and the fun they had demonstrating these.

Watch this space for other fun activities our JTAs have planned for 2024!
