WHINF Experimenting with colour in Gold Class!

This week in Gold Class we have been extending on from our colour topic and have been doing lots of experiments with colours. We discussed what an experiment was and then made our own predictions of what we thought would happen with each one. On Tuesday we added flowers to coloured water to see what would happen. Some predictions the children had were that they would explode or grow bigger and bigger! After leaving them for a few days we realised that they changed colour! On Wednesday we stuck some wax crayons to a piece of paper and blew hot air on them using a hairdryer. The children used lots of lovely language such as melting and shiny to describe what they saw happening. On Thursday we added warm water to a circle of skittles arranged on a plate and watched as a rainbow appeared!

In maths we have continued with our focus on shapes and have been discussing the properties of rectangles. The children have been using the carpet tiles to make models of trains, fish, houses and lots of other lovely creations.

Our sound of the week has been ‘p’ and our rhyme was Hickory Dickory Dock.  The children have also been very busy practicing their Christmas songs and making their hats ready for our Christmas sing a long on Tuesday 16th December at 11:15am. We hope to see you there!
