On Tuesday Year 4 were treated to a Roman invasion!
To support the children’s learning in our thematic curriculum, Year 4 spent the day with a Roman solider who led a brilliant history workshop. The children had come prepared dressed in Celts, Roman citizens, Roman warriors, Senators, Emperors, even Budicca! The focus of the Roman workshop was life in Britain under the Pax Romana and the children explored the dramatic change in the lifestyle of even the lowliest of citizens after the arrival of the Roman legions. The children got to train like the Roman army, took a virtual tour through a bath-house, touched real Roman artefacts and even reinacted Roman games in our school arena / hall.
The children loved the all the interactive activities and immersive experiences which gave them a real feel for life in ancient Rome. Thank you to everyone involved in organising this fantastic day’s learning.
