Remembrance Day Service at Whitehorse Manor Junior School

🌺 Remembrance Day Service at Our School

On Remembrance Day, our school community came together in a moving and meaningful service to honour the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

All of our children and staff gathered at the school’s memorial where we were joined by the school council from Ecclesbourne Primary School to lay poppies in quiet reflection and gratitude. It was a powerful moment of unity and remembrance, as even our youngest pupils took part in this solemn tribute to the fallen.

The service was led with grace by our Head Teacher, Ms Nina Achenbach, who guided us through a programme of songs, poems, and prayers that expressed our collective appreciation and respect. Each performance and reading was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made and the enduring legacy of courage and hope.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Father Joshua Pollard from St Albans Church, who led us in prayer and shared reflections on the journey of those who served—many of whom never returned home. His words reminded us of the importance of remembering not just the loss, but the strength and humanity of those who stood for peace and freedom.

It was a beautiful and heartfelt service, one that brought our school together in remembrance, reflection, and gratitude as we listened to ‘The Last Post’.
