Now in its seventh year, the Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free, open submission exhibition for students aged 4–18 studying in the UK. Artworks are judged by a panel of artists and arts professionals, with selected artworks displayed online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts.
This year, a group of artists in Years 4, 5 and 6 worked with Mrs Rose to produce a wonderful work of art entitled ‘Total Freedom’. They worked collaboratively and the final piece is made up of a group of canvases which fit together in sequence.
The competition received over 23,000 entries and making the final selection was incredibly difficult for the judges. Although our piece was not selected for the final exhibition, we are so proud of the hard work that the children and Mrs Rose put in and we are blown away by the artwork the children produced. We will be celebrating the group’s efforts in an upcoming assembly and the children will receive certificates. We are so lucky to have in Mrs Rose a creative and highly-skilled member of staff who is passionate about creating opportunities for our children to express themselves.
Debate is under way on where we will display the piece to best effect!
