ATW Nursery News – Fun Day!!

We have had a fun week in Nursery. Today we celebrated our EYFS fun day which was full of bouncy castles and mini sports games. It was lovely to be joined by so many family members for our picnic – thank you for taking time out of your day to join us!

In literacy, we have been reading “Commotion in the Ocean” by Julia Donaldson. We learnt all about different sea creatures in the book and explored poems and  rhyming words. We also discussed how this isn’t a normal story book and we can ready the poems in any order. The children have enjoyed exploring all the different sea themed activities in their independent learning time.

In maths, we have practised counting backwards and solving real world maths problems (addition and subtraction). All week we have role played as astronauts blasting off to the moon and we read the story “On the Launchpad ”.

To celebrate the slightly warmer weather, we made our own ice cream parlour at forest school. Some of the mud ice creams looked very enticing! The children loved this activity so much we continued it inside with shaving foam, feathers and sequins!

Our sound of the week is ‘z’ and our sound box was full of zebras, zips and zigzags.
