It’s always lovely to go and visit the children (and staff) after their first night in the woods at Cuffley, but this year something was different. Everyone was well rested! There were no morning grumpies! Ms Vadhia declared that she had never felt this refreshed after the first night away. This change is in no small part to the heated pods that we are using this year for accommodation. No more sleeping under canvas for us! We’ve got bunks and heating! Off-peak, the children have better weather, better food and better attention from the instructors than ever before. They are the only school staying overnight, so the refectory is theirs and the instructors have a lot of patience – with no rushing from activity to activity. Everyone was on good form. I enjoyed my annual climb of the wall (no pictures, sorry – not sorry!) and observed the high ropes from below. They are all having a blast. They had spag bol for dinner last night, smores over the camp fire before bed and waffles this morning. What more could they ask for 🙂
