ATW Reception – Families and composition of numbers 2,3 and 4.

In Reception, the children have had a great deal of fun sharing information about themselves and their families.  They spoke about how different families can be and learned that while each person’s family might look different, each is filled with so much love.  The children particularly enjoyed sharing their baby photos and playing a game guessing who was who!  They created drawings of the people who live with them, leading to discussions about the people they love and even practised using their newly acquired phonics skills to label their artwork.

In mathematics, they have learned about the composition of the numbers 2, 3, and 4.  They started the week by finding pairs of things on their bodies, such as their two eyes, feet and hands.  They had lots of fun making three for the three bears during a picnic, and outside, the children used large Numicon to make and explore numbers.

The outdoor area has been full of active play this week as the children demonstrated their physical skills.  Outside, they built a pretend bus, singing ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ together as they set off on their adventures.
