This week in Nursery, we have continued reading the story ‘The big red bus.’ We have also been reading the book ‘Who’s driving?’ a fun guessing game which encourages the children to look at the colours, sizes and outfits of different animals and cars. They used these clues to make predictions about what might happen next. It has really encouraged the children to speak in full sentences and develop some reasoning and explaining skills.
In maths, we have been practising our subitising skills (when you say a number without counting). The children are getting very speedy with their recall.
We welcomed a new army of tadpoles to our classroom. The children are very good at helping to feed them and clean out their tank. We are all very excited to watch them develop into froglets and frogs.
Our sound of the week is ‘j’. We found jelly, jugs, jam and jars. We have played lots of initial sound games this week, encouraging the children to recognise words with the same initial sound, such as money and mother.
