Last week in nursery the children were busy learning all about the lifecycle of a frog with the help of our supporting story book ‘The Teeny Weeny Tadpole.’ We also spoke about using non-fiction books and found out lots of interesting facts about frogs. Continuing our theme of learning lots of new facts about animals, we were lucky enough to be visited by ‘Pets on the Green.’ The lovely team bought in lots of animals including Gary the Hedgehog, Bert and Ernie the rabbits, Elvis the Chameleon, Marvin the Tortoise and Rosie the Parakeet! The children had opportunities to pet and hold each of the animals and learned lots of facts about each one.
Our new sound was ‘r’ and the nursery rhyme for the week was ‘Incy Wincy Spider.’
This week we have been reading ‘Willbee the Bumblebee’ and learning all about the important jobs that bees do to help our gardens grow. The children have had lots of fun acting out the story an looking for bees in the garden at nursery. Luckily we have lots of spring flowers growing to help the bees do their job! We have been learning the initial sound ‘h’ and have been ‘h’ammering golf tees into playdough to practice our fine motor skills.
Our nursery rhyme this week was ‘ring a ring a roses.’ The children have been enjoying the lovely weather this and have been out in the garden practicing the rhyme.
