Year 6 had a fantastic opportunity to visit Eversheds Sutherland, a leading law firm in central London. The trip was organised in partnership with RedStart and it gave the children a hands-on introduction to the world of money, finance and the legal profession.
Through a series of fun and interactive games, the children learnt how to manage money, make smart choices and understand the basics of saving and investing. One of the most popular activities involved building a tower as high as possible in under a minute. If the tower reached over 25cm, the team earned £60 – but if it toppled over, the earnt nothing! Another favourite challenge was doing star jumps – every set of 20 earned them £20.
The children could also choose to ‘save’ their money in a bank and earn 10% interest or explore investment opportunities. Along the way, they discovered the power of compound interest and learned how pensions work, all while thinking about how to earn, keep and grow their money for the future.
As part of the visit, the children also spoke with lawyers and other professionals working at the firm and enjoyed a guided tour of the building. It was a busy and exciting day – packed with learning and laughter.
