Thank you to all the parents, carers and children who joined us for the last meeting about this month’s residential trip for Year 6.
Year 3 has had a fantastic first week back to the summer term.
Welcome back to the new Summer term! We hope that everyone had a very happy Easter holiday and it’s been great to see our children returning looking very smart in their uniforms.
In Little Cypress we have had a fabulous first week back for our Summer Term.
As part of their Literacy work around the text ‘Wolf Brother’ by Michelle Paver, Year 6 were visited by two cave people, Twig and Ochre, who camped on the field at Whitehorse Manor Junior School for 3 nights.
It has been a very busy week at Cypress Upper. We began the week with our Reading Tree reward assembly and all the children who had completed all their reading mileage for this term received a bookmark with a QR code to a special story read by Ms Binks.
What a wonderful last week of term we have had in Little Cypress!
We have had the most amazing term at CYP Lower! It has been a joy to see children in all year groups improving with their reading and learning across the curriculum and we are so proud of each and every one of you.
This half-term Year 1 children have been busy developing their mapping skills and learning about map features such as compass points, key and symbols.
Your child should already have brought home a kit list which outlines all the equipment they need for the upcoming residential woodland bushcraft trip this May.
As part of our literacy unit on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, we have been delving into the killer mind of Lady Macbeth.
Please see the attached flyers with details of some Easter holiday playschemes run by ‘Start It Right’ and other providers.
On Tuesday, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Associate Director, Musical Director and Choreographer for Matilda the Musical joined us for two workshops/auditions.
We have continued to think about meta-learning this week. In particular, we have been thinking about which learning powers are the most useful in specific tasks, for example in a revision task, we would need to capitalise, make links and use interdependence (consider whether it is better to work alone or with others).
Just as we thought Spring had finally sprung, the chill, wind and even snow returned to remind us that Mother Nature had other ideas!
