A royal week in Atwood’s Reception
This week in Reception the children have enjoyed learning all about the upcoming coronation of our new king, King Charles.
For those parents who will be applying for a reception place for their child for September 2026 we have arranged a series of visits so that they can look around the schools with senior staff.
If you wish to view a school please see here for the available dates. Obviously we have to limit numbers so only parents/carers who have booked will be able to attend.

Toby (Year 6) performs well in Tennis Tournament On Thursday 4th May, Toby, who is in Year 6, represented Atwood as a prestigious tennis tournament.
Jade Class Present a ‘rock solid’ Class Assembly Well done to Jade class for performing their Class Assembly which explored their thematic learning based on the Stone Age.
Mr Veale’s welcome It is nearly time for the early May bank holiday and this means the celebration of spring and the fertility of the land.
In Nursery, our topic is the current season of spring. We have been reading the book: When will it be spring?
The Maypole makes an early appearance Year 1 have been learning some festive dances around the maypole.
Atwood’s Year 2 Classes ‘travel’ to the Seaside On Wednesday 19th April, the British seaside was brought to Atwood!

This week in Reception, we have started our new topic entitled ‘Once Upon A Time’.
Year 5 find themselves in a ‘sticky situation’. They have taken on the task of looking after stick insects.
Mr Veale’s welcome We got there in the end! It’s the last day of March and the last day of the Spring Term.
The Boys’ Football Team played Gresham on St Patrick’s Day. This was a stunning away match, but it is fair to say that Atwood struggled against a stronger Gresham side.
As part of our learning about people who help us in an emergency, we have been looking at police officers and the role they play in our society.
As part of out ‘To the Rescue!’ topic, we have been focussing on people who recue us when our health is in an emergency.
