PE & Sports Grant Funding
The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.
This funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on provision for PE and sport in schools. Schools are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils’ progress and participation in PE and sport in school and are required to publish online information about how they have used the additional funding.
Sport has always been an important element of the curriculum offer at Whitehorse Manor Juniors and we pride ourselves on our involvement in daily sporting activity and in competitive sports. Staff have received Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and support from specialist teachers and coaches in order to develop various aspects of our PE provision. Resources are well stocked and a number of clubs are in place for the enjoyment of our children.
Children in Year 4 take part in an intensive swimming course during the year. In 2024-2025, based on Year 4 swimming lessons, 68 % of Year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
At Whitehorse Manor Junior School our aims are to:
- Increased participation in competitive sports and inter-school tournaments;
- Increased opportunity for children who demonstrate ability in sports to access better coaching;
- Improved resources and facilities for PE and School Sport;
- Improved PE teaching through the development of teachers and other providers;
- Improved enjoyment in sport and increased uptake of sporting opportunities.
