About Us

The Pegasus Academy Trust began its work at Ecclesbourne Primary School in April 2011 and we call the school our ‘hidden gem’.

A Caring School

Well away from main roads and overlooking allotments at the back it is sometimes easy to imagine that you are at a school in the country rather than in the heart of Thornton Heath.  Ecclesbourne has built up a reputation as a caring school and parents of children at the school express high levels of satisfaction with the welcome they receive as well as the progress their children are making in school.

Extensive Refurbishment

The refurbishment of the school, which was completed in April 2012, means that the school has fantastic facilities including a new dining room and spacious ‘breakout’ areas for classes to take part in specialist activities or for support staff to work with small groups.  In addition all classrooms now have immediate access via their own doors to the playground, reception classes have their own dedicated playground and classrooms are well sized with lots of natural light.

The Pegasus Academy Trust has invested heavily in resources making Ecclesbourne Primary School an even better place for your child to learn.  You can get an idea of the learning environment by looking at the galleries below or taking our virtual tour.

Positive Changes

A longstanding member of staff says: “As someone who has worked at the school for 14 years, I have seen many positive changes take place at the school since it joined the Pegasus Academy Trust. The staff have been strengthened, there are opportunities to work in supportive teams and improved resources are evident throughout the school. My experience of working in this new way is very positive and I think you can quickly see that we have built on our strengths with a “can do” attitude and a great environment in which to work and learn.”

The experienced senior staff at the school are focussed on ensuring that the improvement in pupil attainment at the school is sustained and will do all they can to make sure that your child makes good progress and fulfils their potential.  Visitors tell us that the school has a happy feel and that they can see that our children (and staff) enjoy coming to school.

If your child has special educational needs, please see our SEN School Information Report (accessed via a link on the home page).
